The opening ceremony of the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship will take place on June 12 in Rome, reports UEFA’s representative.

“Euro 2020 will kick off on 12 June 2020 in Rome. UEFA is in touch with the relevant international and local authorities regarding the coronavirus and its development. For the moment there is no need to change anything in the planned timetable. The issue will be kept under constant scrutiny,” UEFA’s spokesperson said, according to The Guardian.

There are 83,272 people infected with coronavirus around the world. The virus has been detected in 53 countries, including Italy.

The 2020 UEFA Euro is set to take place from June 12 to July 12 in 12 cities across Europe.
