Olympic champion Armen Nazarian awarded for service to homeland

World famous Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler and Bulgaria national team coach Armen Nazarian has been awarded the first degree medal for service to homeland.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan awarded Armenia’s ten best athletes of 2019 at the presidential residence on February 21.

“Thank you for the award. Finally the revolution reached sport, I am happy. Thank you Prime Minister Pashinyan, the minister,” said Nazarian, who has two Olympic champion titles and numerous other awards.

Ten best athletes are as follows:

Simon Martirosyan (weightlifting)  

Arthur Aleksanyan (Greco-Roman wrestling) 

Arthur Avetisyan (gymnastics)

Gor Minasyan (weightlifting) 

Ruben Aleksanyan (weightlifting) 

Hovhannes Bachkov (boxing)

Slavik Galstyan (Greco-Roman wrestling) 

Tigran Kirakosyan (sambo) 

Arsen Harutyunyan (freestyle wrestling) 

Hakob Mkrtchyan (weightlifting)
