European Championships: Mihran Jaburyan to fight for bronze medal

During the freestyle wrestling championship taking place in Rome, Mihran Jaburyan, Armenia’s representative at the semi-final for 57 kg category wrestlers, was defeated by Turkey’s representative Suleyman Atli 3-6 and will compete for the bronze medal.

Jaburyan began from the 1/8 final during which he beat Belarusian wrestler Dimcik Rincinau 5-4. During the quarter final, Moldova's representative Anatolii Buruiani didn’t stand a chance during the match with Jaburyan, who beat Buruyani 5-0.

The other athletes of Armenia were defeated on the first day. Arman Avagyan (79 kg category) was defeated by Azerbaijani wrestler Jabrail Hasanov 4-8 during the quarter final, Valodya Frangulyan (65 kg category) beat David Habat 3-1 during the qualification round, yet was defeated by Polish wrestler Kryzysztof Byenkovsky 1-4 during the 1/8 final. As for Gevorg Mkheyan (70 kg), he was defeated by Azerbaijani wrestler Aghahusein Mustafayev (8-15) in the beginning, and Sargis Hovsepyan (97 kg category) lost to Georgian wrestler Elizbar Odikadze 0-5 in the beginning.

On February 15, Europe’s current champion Arsen Harutyunyan (61 kg), as well as Hrayr Alikhanyan (74 kg), Hovhannes Mkhitaryan (86 kg), Marzpet Galstyan (92 kg) and Levan Berianidze (125 kg) will be competing.
