During the semi-final for 67 kg category wrestlers at the European Wrestling Championships (Greco-Roman wrestling) in Rome, Armenia’s representative Karen Aslanyan was defeated by Russia’s representative Nazir Abdulayev 3-4 in a highly intense match.

In the first round, the Armenian wrestler received a nose injury and started bleeding. In the second round, Aslanyan tried to throw his Russian opponent to the ground standing up, but Nazir Abdulayev defended himself and threw Alsanyan to the ground. The referee gave Abdulayev two points, after which the Armenian wrestling team’s coach Samvel Gevorgyan appealed. The referees paid heed and added two points to the Armenian wrestler’s score. Before the match ended, Abdulayev would hold Aslanyan’s fingers to not let him hit. Samvel Gevorgyan got frustrated and threw the appeal cube to the center of the circle. The referee reprimanded Samvel Gevorgyan and showed him a yellow card for screaming from where he was sitting.

Aslanyan will fight for the bronze medal on February 12.
