Australian Open: Federer, Serena Williams advance to second round

Roger Federer reached the second round of the Australian Open beating Steve Johnson 6-3 6-2 6-2 on Rod Laver Arena.

Serena Williams also started with a win over Russia’s Anastasia Potapova 6-0, 6-3.

Her sister Venus lost to her 17-year-old compatriot Cori Gauff 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.
