Mourinho's former assistant may lead Armenian squad

The Football Federation of Armenia is considering the candidacies of Spanish specialists for the post of coach of the national squad.

According to NEWS.am Sport, one of the candidates is an ex-player of Real Madrid and the Spanish national team, former assistant of Jose Mourinho at The Whites, who led Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest Aitor Karanka. Under the direction of Karanka, Middlesbrough reached the Premier League.

The specialist, 46, recently visited Yerevan and spoke at a seminar organized for Armenian coaches.

Karanka has an excellent relations with the Technical Director of the Football Federation of Armenia Ginés Meléndez. The latter is one of the initiators of the appointment.
