Armenia players apologize to fans after 9-1 loss
02:35 19 November, 2019Armenia national team players Artur Sarkisov, Edgar Babayan and Hovhannes Hambartsumyan apologized for a 1-9 defeat to Italy, Armenia’s biggest margin of defeat in history.
“It was awful, we have to work and correct our mistake. It is hard to say what has happened. It’s football, everything happens,” Sarkisov said.
Babayan added that Armenia was playing against a very strong team, but “this does not mean that we have to lose 9-1”.
“We want to apologize to our fans, it was a very bad game and a very bad results. The game showed we cannot play having five defenders,” Hovhannes Hambartsumyan added.
Armenia ended the fifth in Group J leaving behind Lichtenstein only.
