EC: Armenian men's chess team loses to English team, women's team scores victory

The matches of the 7th round of the European Team Chess Championship were held today in Batumi.

 

The Armenian chess team (Levon Aronian, Gabriel Sargsyan, Hrant Melkumyan and Hayk M. Martirosyan) competed with the English chess team and was defeated 1.5-2.5. Levon Aronian, Gabriel Sargsyan and Hrant Melkumyan tied their matches, while Hayk Martirosyan failed to score a point.

 

The Armenian women’s team beat the Serbian team 2.5-1.5. Lilit Mkrtchyan and Elina Danielyan scored victories, Anna Sargsyan tied her match, while Maria Gevorgyan was defeated.

 

The Armenian men’s team is in 5th place on the championship table with 9 points, and Russia is the leader with 12 points.

 

The Armenian women’s team is in third place on the championship table with 10 points. The Armenian team is behind the Georgian and Russian teams.
