The National Hockey League’s (NHL) Winnipeg Jets could be without one of their top defensemen for more than half of the new season.

Zach Bogosian will undergo surgery by a renowned physician in Ohio, Friday, for what the team calls a “chronic ligament tear in his right wrist.”

The operation will keep 22-year-old Bogosian out for up to six months, pegging his potential return for the end of February, The Winnipeg Sun reports.

To note, Zach Bogosian suited up in 65 games last season, posting five goals and 25 assists, with a minus-3 rating and 71 minutes in penalties.
