Olympic champion Levon Julfalakyan unveiled the reasons for his resignation from the post of head coach of Armenia’s Greco-Roman wrestling team during a media briefing on August 27.

“Yes, I’m resigning. There have been disagreements in the team over the past few months. Some athletes of the national team want the head coach to work under their guidance, they want the training plan to be drawn up at their request, and the participants in the tournaments to be determined based on their demand. This is a conspiracy against me. And I can’t continue working in such environment,” Julfalakyan told reporters.

“I made the right decision. I did what I could. There are probably people who are trying to take my place and they imagine that everything is built and they can easily achieve high results in the coming year”

The national team will hold the final gathering on August 29 ahead of the World Cup, which will be held from September 14 to 22 in Kazakhstan.
