Russian basketball player asks burglars to return Olympic medal

10:07   28 August, 2012

London 2012 Olympics bronze medalist Russian national basketball team member Vitaly Fridzon asked the persons who broke into his home to return his Olympic medal.

The burglars had broken into Fridzon’s home on the night of August 25 and, aside from the Olympic bronze medal, also stolen two Swiss watches, a mobile phone, computers, and a camera. A criminal lawsuit was launched.

Fridzon announced that he solely needs the Olympic medal from the rest of the stolen items, Sovetski Sport reports.

To note, this is the first time in its post-Soviet history that the Russian national basketball team has ever won an Olympic medal. The Russian’s had faced Argentina, in the London 2012 Olympic bronze medal match, and defeated them by a score of 81-77.
