Head coach of Yerevan’s FC Pyunik Aleksandr Tarkhanov answered journalists’ questions after losing 0-4 to the English Wolverhampton Wanderers FC in the first match of Qualifying Round 3 of the Europa League.

“We had a different picture of the Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, we played well during the first 30 minutes. I had warned my team that we have to make as few mistakes as possible.

This was a good experience for FC Pyunik. The opponent has high-class footballers who play in the national teams of their respective countries. We missed goals due to primitive mistakes.

We felt the absence of Erik Vardanyan who could have organized our team’s game at the expense of dribbling. Artyom Simonyan and Stanislav Efimov are good footballers, but they weren’t able to substitute Erik.

We had the most powerful opponent, which can also compete to win in the Europa League,” the Russian coach said.

The return match of the teams will be held on August 15 in England.
