Thibaut Courtois' was showered with toy rats as he entered the field of play at the Wanda Metropolitano before the Madrid derby, Marca reported.
The current Real Madrid goalkeeper made 154 appearances for Atletico during a three-year spell in which he helped Los Rojiblancos to Copa del Rey, LaLiga Santander and Europa League titles.
Since his move to Los Blancos in the summer, many Atletico supporters feel bitter towards the Belgian for what they deem a betrayal.
As well as the shower of rats before the game, the plaque that bears his name outside Atletico's new stadium was also vandalised.
