Rafael Nadal defeated Russian Karen Khachanov (27) 7-5, 5-7, 6-7 (7-9), 6-7 (3-7) in the third round of the US Open.
For the first time in the history of their clashes Khachanov managed to win one set.
Nadal will face Georgia's Nikoloz Basilashvili in the fourth round.
