Mkhitaryan knee injury recurs

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger informed that midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan again suffered a knee injury during their English Premier League clash against Manchester United.

After recovering from his knee injury, the captain of the Armenian national football squad had returned to the Gunners’ starting XI for the first time and scored a goal against his former club. In the French football specialist’s words, Mkhitaryan was subbed off in the 76th minute due to this recurring injury.

“I took off Mkhitaryan because he had a little knock on his knee again, on the same knee,” the Arsenal website quoted Wenger as saying. “We’ll have to monitor them [the Arsenal players who were injured in the match against Man United] over the next 48 hours. We’ll know more on Tuesday [on whether they will be out of the Gunners’ UEFA Europa League semifinals’ return leg Thursday against Atlético Madrid].”

Mkhitaryan, 29, had suffered his initial knee injury on April 5, in the first leg of Arsenal’s Europa League quarterfinal match against CSKA Moscow.
