The second round will begin Monday at the 2018 Candidates Tournament, in the German capital city of Berlin.
Armenia’s top chess player, Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian, will face GM Ding Liren (China) in his first match in this round.
All the matches will start at 6pm Armenia time.
Aronian has 2.5 points so far, and he rounds up the bottom of the current standings, together with GM Wesley So (USA).
The winner of the Candidates Tournament will be the challenger for the 2018 World Chess Championship against the reining champion, GM Magnus Carlsen (Norway), from November 9 to 28, in London.
