Winter Olympics 2018 close in Pyeongchang

International Olympic Committee (IOC) president, Thomas Bach, declared the Pyeongchang Games closed.

A record 102 medals was grabbed this year in 15 events. A total of 2,925 athletes from 92 countries took part in Winter Olympics 2018.

Norway set a Winter Olympics record by finishing Winter Olympics with 39 total medals - 14 gold, 14 silver and 11 bronze medals, while Germany took the second place (14-10-7), leaving behind Canada (11-8-10). Due to the Russian doping controversy, the IOC permitted Russia to compete under the designation Olympic Athlete from Russia. Russia grabbed 17 medals- 2 gold, 6 silver and 9 bronze medals and took the 13th place.

Armenia had three representatives at Pyeongchang-2018 - skiers Mikayel Mikayelyan, Katya Galstyan and alpine skier Ashot Karapetyan.

The 2022 Winter Olympics will take place in Beijing from 4 to 20 February.
