Henrikh Mkhitaryan: I am thankful to Armenian people

Manchester United (England) midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has shared his impressions on being on the list of Armenia’s top ten athletes of 2017.
“After being named Armenia’s footballer of the year, I am super happy to have received most of the votes in Armenia’s top 10 athletes of the year poll,” the captain of the Armenian national football squad wrote, in particular, on his Facebook page. “My fans are my motivation. I’m thankful to all those who voted for me and, in general, to the Armenian people, for the warmest support shown to me. It’s an honor for me to get the most votes in Armenia’s top ten athletes in 2017. I will continue to do everything to achieve new successes, for the joy of my nation.”
As reported earlier, Armenia’s top ten athletes of the year for 2017 were chosen through SMS and voting of sports journalists (NEWS.am Sport, however, did not participate). According to the sports journalists’ votes, three-time world and European Greco-Roman wrestling champion and Olympic gold and bronze medalist Artur Aleksanyan claimed first place, but Henrikh Mkhitaryan won overwhelmingly as a result of SMS voting.
