Armenia’s Aronian turns 35

Chess Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian—who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions, Armenia—on Friday celebrates his 35th birthday.
On September 30, Aronian got married with long-time girlfriend Arianne Caoili at Saghmosavank monastic complex in Armenia. President Serzh Sargsyan, who is also Chairman of the Chess Federation of Armenia, was the best man at the wedding ceremony.

Levon Aronian recently won the 2017 World Chess Cup and qualified for the Candidates Tournament to determine the challenger for the World Chess Championship.

Subsequently, the Armenian GM climbed two spots in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings and became second in respective standings for October.

Levon Aronian was crowned winner of the World Chess Cup in 2007, too.
