Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian reached the 1/8 finals of the 2017 World Chess Cup, taking place in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Levon Aronian beat Russian Maxim Matlakov in the tiebreak 5-3.
The winner and finalist of the tournament will be qualified to the 2018 candidates' tournament.
