FIDE Grand Prix Geneva: Armenia’s Aronian to face Russia’s Nepomniachtchi

The penultimate eighth-round games will be played Friday at the Geneva FIDE Grand Prix 2017 chess tournament, which is wrapping up in Switzerland.

In this round, Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian (Armenia) will face GM Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia).

All matches in this round will get underway at 4pm Armenia time.

After seven rounds, Aronian, who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions Armenia, shares 7th to 14th places, with 3.5 points.

Eighteen chess players are competing in this nine-round tournament.
