Henrikh Mkhitaryan: I am still a kid, I am not that old

Armenian national football squad captain and Manchester United (England) midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who is also United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Goodwill Ambassador in Armenia, responded to questions about the situation of children in the country on Wednesday.

In 2016, Mkhitaryan was appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in Armenia.

“First of all, I want to thank UNICEF for the meeting. It is very nice to be here, to listen to children because they are our future and we are trying to solve all their problems. For this initiative I want to thank UNICEF, which is trying to help needy children in Armenia.

“I think all kids of Armenia are friendlier, it is a little bit different in foreign countries. Each child should be happy and grateful that he lives in Armenia. I am still a kid, I am not that old. All we are children of our parents. What now has Armenia, according to me, is enough to some extent, although there is room for improvement.”

“As a father-to-be, one must be balanced, sometimes gentle, sometimes strict. I will try to be a gentle parent. I had a good impression of every child I talked to today,” Mkhitaryan said, answering the questions.

Asked what the football player thinks about the cases when children are suing their parents, Mkhitaryan said: “I do not think it is right that a child may sue the parent. Parent gives a birth to a baby, tries to give a direction in life. It is not about the cases when parents use violence, but we have no right to sue our parents,” the midfielder said.
