Manchester United (a.k.a. Red Devils) midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been included in the ESPN Team of the Weekend of English Premier League football.
“Before his departure on a stretcher, Henrikh Mkhitaryan was Manchester United’s main creative outlet and the man who scored their winning goal against [London’s] Tottenham [Hotspur],” ESPN wrote about the captain of the Armenian national squad.
In this match that was played in Manchester, the Red Devils defeated the guests owing to the game’s only goal scored by Mkhitaryan; this was his first goal in the Premier League and at Old Trafford, the Man United home stadium.
The Armenian international started for the Red Devils. Toward the dying minutes of the second half, however, he suffered an ankle injury and was stretchered off the pitch.
As a result of an online voting on the Man United official Twitter account, the Armenian international was recognized Man of the Match.
In addition, Henrikh Mkhitaryan was given The Daily Mail newspaper of Great Britain’s highest rating in this game.
