Armenia’s Hovhannes Bachkov qualifies for Rio Olympics

Hovhannes Bachkov, who represents Armenia in the 64kg weight class, booked his spot in the Rio Olympics, during a boxing qualifying tournament being held in Venezuela.

In his second bout, the Armenian athlete defeated his Ukrainian opponent 3-0, advanced to the final, thus qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics that will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

This is the last Olympics qualifying boxing tournament, and Armenia received its 32nd qualification for the Rio Olympics.

Until now, a total of 31 athletes representing Armenia in eight sports had qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
