YEREVAN. – The newly formed Armenia national basketball team, which became winners of the 2016 FIBA European Championship For Small Countries, returned to Armenia on Monday night.
Large number of journalists, fans, and Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Gabriel Ghazaryan welcomed the squad at Zvartnots International Airport in capital city Yerevan, informed the Basketball Federation of Armenia.
In the final of this event that was held in Moldova, Armenia had defeated Andorra by a score of 79-71 and become champions for the first time.
And since they had made it to the final of the 2016 FIBA European Championship For Small Countries, Team Armenia also have been eligible to compete in the EuroBasket group stage.
