Hakob Serobyan, Head Coach of the Men’s National Gymnastics Team of Armenia, summed up the results of the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships, which wrapped up in Bern, Switzerland.
“We prepare for every tournament to perform in the best way, but this number of medals was really unexpected,” the National Olympic Committee of Armenia quoted Serobyan as saying. “We have a European gymnastics champion for the first time in the history of independent Armenia. These medals are the result of teamwork.”
At the event, Armenia’s Harutyun Merdinyan was crowned European champion in the pommel horse, Vahagn Davtyan became a silver medalist in the rings, and Artur Davtyan came in second in the vault. In addition, Artur Avetisyan won a silver medal in the rings, in the juniors’ competition.
