Physiotherapist who helped Suárez has cancer (PHOTO)

Following a meniscus surgery, Uruguay national football squad and Liverpool F.C. (England) striker Luis Suárez was able to achieve an excellent physical fitness in a short space of time.As a result, he was able to play in Uruguay’s group match against England in the 2014 FIFA World Cup hosted by Brazil.

Suárez was able to regain his full strength in such a short time thanks to Uruguay team physiotherapist Walter Ferreira. But the 63-year-old specialist has cancer, and due to his health condition, he could not arrive in the Uruguay squad’s training camp. Instead, Suárez had gone to Ferreira’s home in the past one month, and trained with the program the physiotherapist had prepared.

The Uruguay striker netted two goals in the game against England. After scoring his first goal, Suárez ran toward Ferreira, hugged him, and pointed at him. And after the match, the Uruguay international thanked the specialist.

“If it hadn’t been for him, I wouldn’t have been here,” Luis Suárez stated.
