Josep María Bartomeu, new President of FC Barcelona (Spain), commented on the news that Argentina national football squad captain and Barça striker Lionel Messi may leave the Catalan club.
“We cannot sell Messi because he is the best player in the world. It is the desire of the majority of the Barcelona fans, and I believe that Messi himself wants to finish his career here,” El Mundo Deportivo quotes Bartomeu as saying.
It was reported earlier that the 26-year-old Argentine international could leave the Spanish La Liga champions this summer.
