Number of La Liga teams to reduce?

The persons in charge of the Spanish Primera División (LFP)—commonly known in the English-speaking world as La Liga—football clubs are ready to discuss a reforms’ program, El Mundo Deportivo reports.

A reduction in the number of La Liga teams—from 20 to 18—can become the main innovation in these reforms.

In addition, the La Liga calendar can be tightened. Some clubs favor the introduction of Boxing Day in Spain, when the teams play on every third day. Owing to this, the clubs plan to improve their advertisement appeal.
