Aubameyang named best African footballer in the French championship

Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Marseille has been honoured with the Marc-Vivien Foe award as the best African footballer in the French league, the club's website reports.

Aubameyang scored 252 points in the voting, ahead of PSG's Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi (136 points) and Lille's Algerian midfielder Nabil Bentaleb (112 points).

In the current French championship Aubameyang took part in 31 matches, scored 14 goals and made 8 effective assists. He has scored 29 goals in 48 matches in all competitions.

The 34-year-old Aubameyang is receiving this award for the second time. He won the award in 2013 with Saint-Etienne.
