Dani Alves, the former defender of Barcelona and the Brazilian national football squad, faces 12 years in prison, reports UOL.
The prosecution demanded a 9-year prison sentence for Alves, accused of rape, but the lawyer of the woman who was the victim will ask the judge for a 12-year prison sentence, which is the maximum penalty for rape in Spain.
Alves had paid 150,000 euros in compensation and agreed to cooperate with the prosecution, hoping for 6 years in prison, Spanish media report.
Dani Alves has been in a Barcelona prison since January.
