Barca to set 16-year-old footballer's release clause at €1 billion

Barcelona will soon announce the signing of a new contract with Lamine Yamal, the 16-year-old winger of the Spanish national team, well-known Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano informed on Twitter

And the footballer's release clause will be set at €1 billion.

According to FIFA rules, the maximum contract period of a 16-year-old player can be three years.

Yamal's current contract with Barca runs until June 2024.

Lamine Yamal made his debut in the Spanish La Liga at the age of 15 years and 290 days, setting an age record at the Catalan club.
