Reigning French Ligue 1 champions PSG manager Christophe Galtier has announced that Lionel Messi, the 35-year-old striker and captain of current World Cup champions Argentina, will part ways with the Parisian club.
"It was a great honor to coach the best player in the history of football. The match against Clermont will be Messi's last [one for PSG] at Parc des Princes [stadium of the club]. I hope he will be well received by the fans. I consider the criticism against Messi unfounded," Galtier said, Footmercato reported.
Messi has been playing for PSG since 2021, scoring 32 goals and making 35 assists in 74 appearances for the club. His contract with the Parisian team will terminate on June 30.
