Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Grandmaster Manuel Petrosyan, who represents Armenia, defeated Vugar Rasulov (Azerbaijan) in the fifth round of the European Individual Chess Championship 2023 being held in Serbia.
Petrosyan shares 5th to 38th places, with 4 points, in the current standings.
Gabriel Sargissian, the leader of the Armenian men’s national team, who played a draw with Dimitrios Mastrovasilis (Greece), also has 4 points,
Among the other representatives of Armenia, Shant Sargsyan (3.5) and Samvel Ter-Sahakyan (3.5) also played draws.
Haik M. Martirosyan defeated Adrian-Simion Secheres (Romania) and also has 3.5 points.
The current leader is Anton Korobov (Ukraine), who achieved his fifth win, defeating the countryman Ruslan Ponomariov (4 points).
Eleven rounds will be held at the European Individual Chess Championship.
