Enzo Fernandez signs contract of 8.5 years with Chelsea

Chelsea London have announced the transfer of 22-year-old Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Portugal's Benfica. The contract runs until June 2031.

Chelsea have paid 121 million euros for the transfer. It is a record in the history of English football. River Plate, Argentina's former club of the player, will receive 25 percent of the total amount. Benfica acquired Fernandez last summer for 14 million euros.

Fernandez played 29 matches for Benfica this season, scoring four goals and providing seven assists.
