Clubs included in groups A, B, C and D on Wednesday played their first matches in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
In group A, Napoli (Italy) beat Liverpool (England) with a score of 4-1. In the other group match, Ajax (Netherlands) defeated Glasgow Rangers (Scotland) 4-0 in Amsterdam.
In group B, Club Brugge (Belgium) beat Bayer Leverkusen (Germany) 1-0 at home. In the other match of the group, Atletico Madrid (Spain) defeated Porto (Portugal) 2-1.
In group D, Tottenham Hotspur (England) beat Marseille (France) 2-0 in London. In the other group match, Sporting Lisbon (Portugal) won 3-0 against Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany.
And in Group C, Inter Milan (Italy) hosted reigning German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and lost 0-2. Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the former captain and midfielder of the Armenian national team, was among the Inter starters and played the entire game. In the other match of the group, Barcelona (Spain) played at home against the reigning champions of the Czech Republic, Viktoria Plzen, and won 5-1.
