World Athletics Championships: Armand Duplantis wins men’s pole vault title by breaking world record

Sweden's Armand Duplantis added a new world record to his pole vault world title Sunday, clearing 6.21 meters at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, USA, BBC reported.

The 22-year-old Olympic champion already had gold secured with a first-time clearance of 6 meters. None of his rivals managed higher than 5.94 meters.

Duplantis then took on his world record of 6.20 meters set in Belgrade in March, soaring over at the second attempt.

It is the fifth time Duplantis has broken the world record.

His success also marked the first time the world record has been set outdoors since Sergey Bubka cleared 6.14 meters for the first time in Sestriere, Italy in 1994.
