Russian chess player Alexander Grischuk called the favorites of the candidates' tournament, which will take place from 17 June to 5 July in Madrid.
The tournament will feature Magnus Carlsen (Norway), Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia), Ding Liren (China), Alireza Firouzja (France), Fabiano Caruana, Hikaru Nakamura (both USA), Richard Rapport (Hungary), Teimur Radjabov (Azerbaijan) and Jan Krzysztof Duda (Poland).
"I consider four grandmasters as favorites - Ding Liren, Fabiano Caruana, Alireza Firouzja and Ian Nepomniachtchi. Hikaru Nakamura and Jan Krzysztof Duda are like dark horses. They also can win the tournament, but I think they have a smaller chance.
I do not believe Teimur Radjabov and Richard Rapport can win the tournament at all," ria.ru quoted Grischuk as saying.
