Candidates for post of International Chess Federation head named

President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Arkady Dvorkovich has nominated his candidacy for the election of the organization's head, according to the official FIDE website.

If he is elected, former world chess champion and Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand will become FIDE Vice-President.

Ukraine's Andrey Barishpolets, Belarus' Inalbek Sheripov, and France's Bachar Kouatly will also be in line for the post.

The election will take place at the FIDE General Assembly in Chennai, India, on 7 August.

Dvorkovich has been head of FIDE since 2018.
