Artur Galoyan to play for Armenian national team

Russian Veles midfielder Artur Galoyan has received Armenian citizenship, which will allow him to play for the Armenian national team,  the FFA official website reported.

The 22-year-old is currently in Yerevan. Galoyan met with Joaquin Caparros, head coach of the Armenian national team, today at the FFA Technical centre/Football Academy.

"I have very good impression. It's my first time in Armenia. I was accepted very well, I like everything here. I am ready to keep on working with enthusiasm. If the coach invites me in summer, I will join the team.

I have watched several matches of Armenian NT in autumn, as well as the last friendlies. I have met Eduard Spertsyan and Artyom Avanesyan, whom I know from the school. I don't know other players personally.

My favorite position is central midfielder, but depending on what the coach wants, I can also play on left or right wings or even as a second striker.

I am ashamed to speak Armenian now, because I may probably mix something. I think, I will learn the language and will speak to the fans in Armenian. I will continue to work in order to fulfill the expectations of the coaches and the federation," he said.

Artur Galoyan was born on 25 June, 1999 in Moscow. He started his soccer career in Moscow's Torpedo. In 2020, from Torpedo Galoyan moved to the camp of the Russian FNL Veles.
