Liverpool's Senegalese forward Sadio Mane beat club's former player Steven Gerrard's achievement due to the goal against Portuguese Benfica in the opening leg of the Champions League quarter-final.
Sadio Mane scored his 22nd goal in the Champions League and moved into second place on the club's all-time scoring list. Gerrard scored 21 goals in the Champions League. Egyptian forward Mo Salah tops the list with 33 goals.
Liverpool beat Benfica 3-1 in the first quarterfinal match.
