New European Greco-Roman wrestling champion Malkhas Amoyan is welcomed ceremoniously at Yerevan airport

Last there was a champion mood in the arrival hall of Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport, as newly crowned European Greco-Roman wrestling champion Malkhas Amoyan returned to Armenia.

Team Armenia’s European bronze medalists and the coaching staff also returned with him.

The 23-year-old champion came out of the arrival hall to the sounds of zurna and dhol.

Team Armenia won 1 gold and 3 bronze medals at the European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship held in Budapest, Hungary. Malkhas Amoyan (77 kg) became European Champion, while Rudik Mkrtchyan (55 kg), Gevorg Gharibyan (60 kg), and Slavik Galstyan (67 kg) won bronze medals.

Armenia placed fifth in the team standings at the European Championship.
