Head of FFA Medical Department about visit to Spain

The representatives of the FFA Medical Department went to Spain, where, in addition to professional training, they also got acquainted with the infrastructure and logistical possibilities of a number of clubs.

Narek Vanesyan, head of the FFA Medical Department, presented the details of the visit, according to the FFA's official website.

"The visit to Spain was initiated by the Football Federation of Armenia. Considering how developed the sphere of medical services is in Spain, it was very important for our doctors to get acquainted with the various processes and infrastructure on the spot. Pablo Llanes, the physiotherapist for the Armenian national team, who accompanied us during the whole visit, was a great support to us. Javier Miñano, the coach of physical training of the national team, also facilitated a number of meetings. Thanks to them we were able to visit a number of medical facilities as well as various sports clubs.

Pablo Llanes and Javier Miñano are well known and respected in Madrid. Thanks to their direct efforts, we met with legendary Spanish coach Vicente Del Bosque, with whom we discussed the role and importance of medical care at top clubs. With Javier Miñano we discussed a number of important issues, mainly concerning the medical strategy used in national (and not only) national teams and the mechanisms for meeting the medical needs of the players. We also met Sos Avetisian, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Spain, who expressed his readiness to support jointly realized programs in the future.

We visited Real Madrid's base, where we met with the head of the club's medical service Niko Mihic. It was reached an agreement on the permanent cooperation and implementation of joint educational programs.

They visited the Spanish Olympic Committee and also visited Atletico Madrid. In both places in the context of familiarization and transfer of experience it was agreed to carry out visits of doctors.

A very rich visit was to the Surgical Simulation Center, where we agreed on the implementation of targeted sports rehabilitation programs.

We also participated in a conference for traumatologists and sports physicians, which was devoted to the rehabilitation of athletes with neuromuscular synapse injuries.

We attended a representative conference at the San Rafael Clinic, followed by a tour of the San Rafael Private Medical Center. The work being done at that clinic was important to us because that's where the players of the Armenian national team are being treated."
