Russia, Belarus weightlifters are suspended from international, continental competitions

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Executive Board has taken the decision to suspend the participation of all athletes, team officials, and technical officials from Russia and Belarus from any international or continental weightlifting event until further notice, the IWF press service reported.

In addition, and also until further notice, no IWF sanctioned events will be organized in these countries. 

The reason is the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Armed Forces.

The IWF Executive Board has further  decided to ensure that financial and training support will be provided to Ukrainian weightlifters preparing for the Youth, Junior, and World Championships.
