Reigning Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan played host to Liverpool in the first leg of the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League, but lost 0-2.
And in the other Round of 16 first leg of the day, Salzburg hosted reigning German Bundesliga titleholders Bayern Munich, and they played a 1-1 draw.
These clubs will play their second leg on March 8.
