World Champion Magnus Carlsen beat Azerbaijani Shakhriyar Mamedyarov with whites in the ninth round of the annual Tata Steel Masters Tournament in Wijk aan Zee.
The Norwegian Grandmaster with 6.5 points leads the tournament table and is half a point ahead of Dutch player Anish Giri.
