FIDE World Rapid Championship: Abdusattorov, 17, becomes youngest winner in history

Nodirbek Abdusattorov, 17, (Uzbekistan) has won the title—with 9.5 points—at the FIDE World Rapid Championship in Warsaw, Poland, thanks to his win over Ian Nepomniachtchi, 31, (Russia) in the tiebreak. As a result, he became the youngest champion in the history of the world rapid chess championships.

Levon Aronian, the former leader of the Armenian men’s team who now represents the USA, took the sixth place, with 9 points.

Tigran L. Petrosian, who placed 27th, with 8 points, showed the best result from the representatives of Armenia.

The title of women's world champion in rapid chess was won by Alexandra Kosteniuk (Russia), who tallied 9 points out of 11 and took the sole first place.

From the two representatives of Armenia, Elina Danielian came in 28th, with 6.5 points, and Susanna Gaboyan placed 94th, with 3.5 points.
