Former leading chess player of the Armenia national chess team Levon Aronian, who currently represents the United States, competed with the world’s champion, Norwegian Magnus Carlsen and was defeated in the 69th step in the next-to-last round of the FIDE World Rapid Championship taking place in Warsaw.
With 9 points, Carlsen is among the four leading players. Yan Nepomnyashchy, Fabiano Caruana and 17-year-old Nodirbek Abdursattorov, who scored a sensational victory over Carlsen in the 10th round, also have the same number of points. Aronian has 8 points.
