Qatar’s Al Sadd have won the Emir Cup, beating Al Rayyan—whose manager is French football legend Laurent Blanc—in the final of this competition.
The regular and extra time of this match ended 1-1, and Al Sadd—with Spain and Barcelona football legend Xavi as their manager—won 5-4 in the penalty shootout.
The final of the Emir Cup was played at the newly opened Al Thumama Stadium, which is the sixth stadium to be commissioned for the 2022 UEFA World Cup which Qatar will host. This stadium has a 40,000-seat capacity.
Also, Xavi won his seventh title in his managing career. He has taken helm at Al Sadd since May 2019.
