Armenia's Karen Avagyan becomes European Under-23 Champion

The competition of weightlifters in the 89 kg category at the European Under-23 Weightlifting Championship in the Finnish city of Rovaniemi ended with the victory of Armenia’s representative Karen Avagyan, who lifted 360 kg in the biathlon.

In the snatch drill, Avagyan lifted 165 kg with the first approach and won first place. Georgian weightlifter Revaz Davitadze won second place after lifting 163 kg. In the next two attempts, Avagyan failed to lift 170 kg.

In the jerk drill, Avagyan lifted 195 kg and won first place again. Revaz Davitadze lifted 193 kg and won third place (356 kg) in the biathlon, and Russian Nikita Khrulev took the bronze medal after lifting 346 kg (155+191).
